Anniversary Number Two

This weekend Alex came up to visit me for our second year anniversary. Our first date was to a corn maze and so every year we go to a corn maze to re-live that date. This year however, we couldn't go to the corn maze we've gone to the last two years because I'm up at Central. So we used to Google and found one in Ellensburg to explore, called Harvestfest.

Our day was filled with much more than just a corn maze. We happened to go on family day and so the farm was filled with little kids, and little kids activities. This also meant all adults got in for free and so had an almost free date.

One of the activities they offered was face painting. I know I'm 18, but there is nothing better than acting like a kid.



There were scarecrows all over the farm. We had fun taking pictures of them because they were all creative.


One of the things that also happened every half hour was a potato-sack race. It was so fun watching the little kids having a ball and just being kids.


There were also signs all over the place and some of them where funny.








Finally we got to the corn maze. Compared to the corn maze in Kent this one was kind of whimpy. The corn stocks were short and the path was tiny, but it was still nice to be able to go on out date.









There was also a petting zoo! They had some two turkeys, a goat, and two baby chickens.



The baby chicken started crawling into Alex's shirt. It was super funny.





There were a couple picture boards in the park as well, and so naturally we did those as well...





We stopped by the gift shop to buy our pumpkins and I found this cute little plastic pumpkin. It reminds me of something out of Nightmare Before Christmas.



The presents:

This year Alex gave me the sweetest presents in the world. He bought me the first season of Modern Family and the spider nano bug. However, he also made me a comic book about the first time we met, our first date, how he asked me out, and about the first time we kissed. It was the best gift ever because the whole thing was done by hand.



My gift to Alex wasn't as grand. I got him a Zen Garden from the thrift store. But I also ordered him a pair of boxers. The back of them says, "Property of Jessi Cheney" and the front has our hand heart. I also ordered myself a pair of underwear that says "Property of Alex Sheets" with the hand heart of the front. Sadly, they didn't get here in time. However when they do I will post a picture of them.

Oh How I Hate To Study

So, what comes with school is studying. However the amount of time I spend on homework is ridicules. Everyday I go to my classes, get lunch, do homework until dinner, and then keep doing homework until bed.

Right now the class that is taking up most of my time is Grammar. Currently we are learning Old English. For some reason my teacher thinks its crucial for the class to learn a dead language. And I'm not talking about just touching on the language to better understand modern English, which would make since to me. My teacher is making us learn how to read and write Old English. I feel like I'm in Spanish all over again! It's terrible. My dad though (who is totally awesome) spent a half hour on the phone with me to help me understand prepositions so that trying to find them in a dead language would be a little easier.

My other two classes are both pretty easy. I'm talking Studies of English Literature and Poetry. So far I haven't done much in either classes. In my lit class we are reading The Great Gatsby...it's terrible. And in Poetry we just read poems and talk about them, with the occasional test online.

And that is my school life at the moment. Terribly exciting I know.

Staying Connected

One of the hardest things about being at college is not being able to see Alex. Thankfully the world of smart people created a fancy little thing called Skype. Being able to talk to Alex via Skype is amazing because it's the closest thing the being together. Though it will never come close to actually being with one another, it helps ease the pain of being two hours away from each other. At least this way we get to see each others faces and feel closer to each other. So other than texting when we aren't at our computers, this is our main way of staying connected until I come home.

Game Day!

Saturday was the first home game of the season, so naturally Kylee and I went. The team played against Simon Fraser from Canada. Before the game Kylee and I went and got team spirit by getting our faces painted!


Kylee got war strips in the school colors and I got a black paw on my check.

And of course with all college football games, the school mascot, Wellington P. Wildcat, made an appearance.


And of course, we got a picture with him.

Before the game the school's marching band played. They were actually pretty good, though i still hold to the fact that i would never! play in one. ..sorry Amy.



Kylee and I left at half time because we were completely frozen. When we left the score was
31 wildcats and 3 Fraser. The score at the end was 37-17, so wildcats won! Woot Woot!

Weekend At Oma and Opa's

So my blog isn't going super good. I never use it. Once again, I'm going to try and get better at it (let's see how this attempt works out).

During the summer Alex and I went to visit his Oma and Opa. While we were there we went on a couple hikes where all the pictures come from.


These first two pictures are right before we started out hike at Staircase. We didn't get very far because we kept going off the path to all these cool places. There was a lot to explore.



The first time we went off the path was to look at this gigantic tree that had fallen over. We got to climb inside. Alex was having fun at the tree and we stayed here for a while.

Not only did Alex climb inside the tree, but he climbed all over the outside too.



Another distraction. The river was super pretty, there were a lot of birds flying around too.

Stop number three was to this gigantic rock that (if it was warmer) could jump off into crystal clear water.


Also at stop three, if you followedthe gigantic rock down the was this log and you could walk to this other gigantic rock.


I thought the dead tree and the water was cool.



Stop number four! We couldn't go out any farther than this without risking falling in the water, but the mini water falls were cool.

Stop five! I thought this tree was amazing and so i decided to climb it.


Alex found a frog!


Isn't this just the coolest trail to walk on?


Stop six. Alex wanted to be a jungle man.

With all of our stops and our time limit, we only got about a mile (if even) out. the whole trail was three miles. Even though we didn't finish the whole thing it was fun, and super awesome scenery. Next year we are going to make a longer time limit in order to make sure we get the whole trail in!


After our Staircase hike Opa and Oma took us to see the Dam and to some other local spots. It was fun.

The next day


I've never really shot anything in my life and so this was a super fun experience for me. The first gun Alex let me shot was the 22. It had a small kick back and I loved this gun! I mostly shot this one because it didn't scare me.


The other gun we shot this day was a 45 pistol. I only shot it twice (video below) and I didn't like it. the kick back was way bigger than the 22 and it scared me because I thought I was going to hurt either myself or Alex.



That night we went up to Mount Walker where there is a 360 degree view (from two different view points). On the other view point you can actually see Seattle, but I don't have a picture of it because right after I took the picture below my camera accidentally slipped out of my pocket and the lens broke.


The next morning, Alex and I went on a drive up the mountains. He took the shotgun with us in case we saw any grouse. He didn't. However the drive was super pretty (wish i could have gotten pictures) and even though there was nothing to shot at, Alex let me take a shot with the shotgun. Scary! I knew the kick back was going to be worse than the 45, but after seeing Alex shoot (who is completely use to it and it didn't even move him) I let myself believe it wasn't going to be bad at all....bud mistake! Even though it's awesome I can brag about shooting a shotgun, it scared me super bad and next time I"m going to have to muster up the courage because of how much it scared me the first time.
